RANCHI: State rural development minister Alamgir Alam on Wednesday announced in the state assembly that the govt would initiate a detailed probe in connection with alleged irregularities in allotment of houses under the Abua Awas Yojana to the homeless.

Gomia MLA of Ajsu-P Lambodar Mahto raised the issue in the house and alleged that gram sabha has been sidelined and officials are preparing list of beneficiaries in violation of all the prescribed rules. He also cited a few examples.

Responding to it, Alam said they are getting the complaints probed. “It is a flagship scheme of the state govt to provide houses to homeless. We have set a target to cover all homeless by 2027. It is just on the initial stages but still if there are any irregularities it will be rectified and action taken.”

He reiterated that recommendation of the gram sabha will continue to assume priority. He said, “Final recommendation of gram sabha is taken as the basis of approval.”
