NAGPUR: The Maharashtra govt may consider giving relief to those nazul property lessees who have breached the lease conditions, as per sources present at a meeting held in Mumbai chaired by deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and revenue minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil.

While the govt seemed positive to provide the relief, it shall become official only after a GR is issued.

Pravin Datke, BJP MLC, confirmed the development, saying the relief is being offered on three fronts. Datke said, “The major issue is that most of the lesses have breached their conditions by making alterations into the design of the house. The govt says no action will be taken against them.”

He added that there will be one exception. “If people, whom residential property allotted, have started commercial shops then they will have to pay a penalty,” said Datke.

Another relief the govt is planning is for registration. Datke said, “When the property becomes freehold then the owner has to complete the registration process. The govt is planning to provide relief in this process as well.” However, no further details as to what type of relief will be given was available. Sources said that the registration fee will be relaxed.
