GURGAON: MCG sanitation teams penalised two residential societies located on Golf Course Road Extension on Tuesday for not complying with Solid Waste Management (SWM) rules, which are meant for bulk waste generators (BWGs). A residential society in the city was fined Rs 25,000, while another was fined Rs 10,000.
Sanitary inspector Bhupendra Kumar said both residential societies were found to be violating SWM regulations.
He also said they were not composting or processing their wet waste, while their dry waste was not being sent for recycling. There was no processing unit set up on their premises for wet waste processing. Additionally, they had not authorised any agency for their waste processing and recycling. Kumar added that this violated SWM rules. Kumar led the team inspecting these waste generation sites.
The corporation has given 20 days to ensure compliance with SWM rules, otherwise, it will initiate further action. The regulations mandate that the waste generators have to treat their wet waste and recycle their dry waste.
