GURUGRAM: The MCG commissioner ordered weekly reports from the enforcement wing officials of their actions and directed officials to ensure strict action against encroachments, unauthorised constructions, and illegal occupations of government land in their areas.

This came while the commissioner was hearing a complaint about encroachment on MCG land in Gwal Pahari.

He asked the assistant engineer (enforcement) to take cognisance of the complaint and initiate action to free the municipal land from illegal encroachment.

MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg said, “The enforcement teams formed for all zones should ensure continuous action against encroachments, unauthorised constructions, and illegal occupations of government land in their areas and send a weekly report of their actions to my office. Once the municipal land is freed from illegal encroachments, it should be immediately secured with walls or fencing to prevent re-encroachment.”

“It is now mandatory for the enforcement wing of all four zones to send a weekly report of their actions to the Commissioner’s office. I directed the executive engineer (Encroachment), Krishna Kumar, to send a report on the actions taken in Gwal Pahari,” said Garg, adding illegal encroachments on the govt land won’t be tolerated and action will be taken under a zero-tolerance policy.

Since Oct last year, 1094 complaints about encroachment, sewerage, garbage, etc., have been registered at the Samadhan camps. Of the total, 134 cases were of encroachment and MCG resolved 23 such cases with 111 still pending.

The enforcement teams recently conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Sector 37 and Basai against temporary encroachments on roads and sidewalks such as stalls, kiosks, tin sheds, and similar structures. Encroachers were given a stern warning against committing the offence.
