GURUGRAM: Residents of Towers A, B and C of Chintels Paradiso Group Housing Society in Gurugram have been asked to vacate their flats with immediate effect after the tower was declared unsafe for living in a structural audit report by the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), according to an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner.

The order, issued to implement Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, requires all three towers to be vacated within 15 days, said Gurugram DC and Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority Ajay Kumar.

Six floors of Tower D of Chintels Paradiso Society collapsed partially on February 10, 2022, leading to the death of two female residents. Since then, the building site has been a matter of dispute between the builder and the residents.

Based on the CBRI report, the District Magistrate, in view of the imminent danger to life and property of the residents living in Towers A, B, and C, has ordered the immediate evacuation of the concerned residents under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Defence Code, along with Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the order said.

“Residents living in Towers A, B, and C are required to vacate their respective premises within 15 days of the issuance of the order and hand over vacant possession to M/s Chintels India Pvt. DTP (Enforcement) Gurugram has been appointed as the nodal officer and duty magistrate to monitor the orders. The help of the police force can also be taken to ensure compliance with the orders. If anyone is found guilty of disobeying the orders issued, action will be taken under Section 223 of the Indian Justice Code 2023 and Sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and other legal provisions applicable,” the order reads.
