PANCHKULA: Haryana chief minister, Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday said a scheme would soon be prepared for the rehabilitation of those residing in slums at Kharak Mangoli village, Rajiv and Indira colonies, Panchkula. About 7,500 slums have been identified to benefit under this scheme that were likely to get dwellings along the Ghaggar, the CM said.
He also counselled the slum dwellers to get rehabilitated so that they get better living facilities and dwellings.
The CM was interacting with the mediapersons soon after inspecting the land identified for rehabilitation at Kharak Mangoli village. Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker Gian Chand Gupta was also present along the CM.
Khattar said people in Kharak Mangoli village, Rajiv and Indira colonies had been living in unauthorized slums for years.
To remove unauthorized encroachments and rehabilitate people, 59.12 acres had been identified in Kharak Mangoli village by the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), he added.
He also directed the HSVP to hold a meeting with the forest, public works, irrigation and water resources and revenue departments to discuss all aspects related to this land and prepare a scheme accordingly.
