GURUGRAM: Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini will chair a high-level meeting next Tuesday, Dec 24, to assess progress in the city’s metro expansion projects.

Officials said a key portion of the discussion will be on the Millennium City Centre-Cyber City line.

This 28.8km corridor, starting from Millennium City, will cross Old Gurgaon before looping back to Cyber City. All of its 27 stations will be elevated.

Officials said the meeting will focus on the appointment of a general consultant for the project.

The tender for it was opened last week and eight companies have bid for it till now. Currently, technical evaluations are underway, and financial assessments will be carried out before making a decision on the consultant. The selected agency will have to oversee procurement, construction, management, testing and commissioning of the metro corridor.

“All the aspects of the projects, including staff recruitment, finances and coordination issues will be presented before the CM. The detailed design consultant has already started working on finalising the route alignment and stations. We are also in the process of engaging the general consultant for the project soon,” a Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) official said on Monday.

Further, discussions are likely to focus on the planned interchange for the metro corridor with Delhi Metro’s yellow line and Rapid Metro at Cyber City. The new line will also be linked with the proposed rapid rail line at Hero Honda Chowk.

Separately, officials of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) said its board approved the draft detailed project report (DPR) for the Sector 56-Panchgaon metro line.

Haryana govt is planning to undertake the project independently, without assistance or investment from the central govt. The DPR will now be submitted to the central govt for approval.

This 36km metro corridor, with a budget of Rs 8,500 crore, will connect areas such as Golf Course Extension Road, Southern Peripheral Road, Central Peripheral Road, new sectors along the Dwarka Expressway, Manesar and Pachgaon. It will include 28 elevated stations, with Sector 56 serving as an interchange station with the Rapid Metro line.

Additionally, the metro corridor will connect to the proposed Bhondsi–Gurgaon Railway station line at Vatika Chowk and the rapid rail station at Kherki Daula.

The HMRTC board has also approved draft techno-feasibility report for Bahadurgarh-Palwal metro corridor and the draft ridership assessment report for the Bahadurgarh to Asaudha route.
