High allocation to civic bodies in Madhya Pradesh, ET RealEstate

BHOPAL: MP state budget for 2025-26 reveals significant investments in urban development initiatives.

The largest allocation is Rs 3,600 crore for urban bodies through entry tax transfers, followed by Rs 2,005 crore for Simhastha-2028 preparations. Basic services in local bodies received substantial funding of Rs 1,617 crore through state tax shares.

Urban transformation programmes receive notable attention, with Rs 1,071 crore allocated to AMRUT 2.0 and Rs 1,000 crore to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 BLC. The Metro Rail project secures Rs 850 crore, while the Madhya Pradesh Urban Service Improvement Program gets Rs 600 crore.

Housing and infrastructure development remain priority areas, with Rs 418 crore for Housing for All and Rs 200 crore for urban infrastructure construction. Smart city initiatives receive focused attention, with Rs 54 crore each allocated to Ujjain and Jabalpur Smart Cities.

Environmental and sanitation projects are well-funded, including Rs 296 crore for Urban Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and Rs 227 crore for the MP Urban Sanitation and Environment Sector Program.

Public transport sees innovation with Rs 110 crore allocated for PM E-Bus Service. Community welfare schemes receive attention through initiatives like the Deendayal Antyodaya Rasoi Yojana with Rs 69 crore.

The budget demonstrates a balanced approach towards urban development, combining infrastructure development, basic services, environmental concerns, and public welfare schemes.
