CHANDIGARH: Haryana Shehri Vikas Parishad (HSVP) is developing only 17 new sectors in nine districts of the state, with Faridabad topping the table with five new sectors. The information was shared by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who is also the HSVP chairman, in response to a query by Indri MLA Ram Kumar. Khattar denied the authority had any plans of carving out a sector in Indri.
Officials in HSVP admitted to the slow pace of carving out new sectors, blaming it largely to non-availability of land and the change in the pattern of acquisition.
Instead of taking up land acquisition after carving out master plans, to avoid litigation and other issues, the HSVP as well as land acquisition authorities have shifted to land pooling scheme wherein owners volunteer to offer their lands for carving out residential, commercial or institutional sectors to be developed by HSVP, HSIIDC or any other agency. The HSVP is currently focussing on disposing of the existing stocks of residential, commercial or institutional plots through e-auction.
