HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has launched a detailed survey to address the issue of park encroachments within the limits of Ameenpur municipality.

This action follows numerous complaints on encroachment of park land in layouts approved by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), particularly in survey numbers 152 and 153 of Venkataramana Colony.

Residents of Venkataramana Colony, Chakrapuri Colony, RTC Colony and Golden Cave questioned about encroachments into each other’s layouts. HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath said that a survey would be completed within 15 days to identify the extent of govt land, location of parks and any instance of encroachment.

The survey on Wednesday involved officials from HYDRAA, revenue, HMDA and the municipality.

Ranganath also held a meeting with people affected by recent demolitions in Ameenpur to remove encroachments on govt land as well as real estate dealers who had sold the plots.

Ranganath emphasised that they did not intend to trouble the poor but their responsibility is to protect govt land and ensure that areas allocated for social needs in the colonies are not occupied.
