JAIPUR: Colonisation minister Hemant Meena announced in assembly Monday that illegal land allocations made for agricultural purposes in Kolayat and Bajju tehsils of Bikaner district between 2021 and 2023 will be revoked following an investigation.
“In accordance with the order issued on Feb 1, a committee under the chairmanship of the additional district collector (city) of Bikaner has been formed to examine these land allocation cases. Necessary legal action will be taken to cancel all illegal allocations after we receive the committee’s report,” Meena stated.
In response to a written question from MLA Anshuman Singh Bhati, Meena placed official records before the House, confirming that between Nov 1, 2020, and Oct 10, 2023, as many as 69 cases of reserved land under special allocation and Moharband (sealed) categories were wrongly allocated under general allocation in Bajju tehsil.
“In this period, a total of 312 land allocations were made under various categories. However, 69 of these cases, classified under general allocation, involved land that was originally reserved for special allocation and Moharband categories, which is a clear violation of the rules,” Meena said.
He said corrective measures are being taken. “The colonisation commissioner or the district collector has the authority to cancel such illegal allocations either upon receiving a complaint or through suo motu action. These 69 disputed cases will be reviewed as per judicial procedures once the tehsildar concerned submits them for hearing,” added Meena.
