GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has issued challans and show-cause notices to the owners of 16 properties for violating Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP) rules. So far, fines amounting to more than Rs 7 lakh have been imposed through these challans.
On behalf of the deputy commissioner, district town planner (planning) and three district town planners (enforcement) have been appointed as duty magistrates to tackle violations of GRAP rules. Challans have been imposed on ongoing licensed projects in areas like Saraswati Kunj, South City 1, DLF 3, Garhi Harsaru and Farrukhnagar.
Assistant town planner Anil Kumar said challans were issued to 16 sites between November 13 and 18 as the owners violated GRAP and NGT rules such as carrying out construction activities despite a ban, transporting construction material without covering it, leaving it uncovered at sites, and not carrying out water sprinkling.
“If construction work is detected at any site and building materials are found lying uncovered at the sites, the property owners are only being issued challans, but also being served show-cause notices as to why legal action should not be taken against them for the violations,” he added.
In contrast, DTCP issued 10 challans the previous week (November 6-11) and imposed fines amounting to around Rs 2.5 lakh.
Manish Yadav district town planner (enforcement) said, “The enforcement team is continuously inspecting project sites and issuing challans if violations are found. Along with this, recovery of penalties is also being done. A copy of all the notices is also being sent to the DTP (planning) office so that the challan amount can be recovered before issuing OC to the houses in the licensed colony concerned.”
Last week, the department had issued a helpline number for the residents to file complaints related to GRAP violations. Residents can now lodge a complaint on 9667143648, after which the department will inspect the site and take action accordingly.
