LUDHIANA: Cracking the whip on violators involved in illegal construction, the municipal corporation on Tuesday demolished two illegal under-construction colonies and labour quarters in the areas falling under MC zone C.
These included an illegal colony being established at Star Road, Lohara; labour quarters being established in Jaspal Bangar area and another illegal under construction colony on Sua road, Giaspura.
Assistant town planner (ATP) Pardeep Sehgal and building inspector Paulparneet Singh said regular drives against illegal construction were being undertaken on the directions of MC chief Sandeep Rishi.
He said although the civic officials had taken action against the colony on Sua road earlier as well, the owner had started construction again, following which the drive was conducted.
Rishi appealed to the residents to commence the construction process only after getting the building plans approved. He stated that the building branch officials have been instructed to take strict action against the illegal constructions.
