AHMEDABAD: The civic body on Wednesday demolished over 35 illegal structures in several areas under the Sarkhej ward.
The drive was undertaken near Hid Park and Masjid-e-Abeda, where unauthorized residential row houses and commercial units were coming up.
The AMC had issued notices under Section 260 of the GPMC Act, 1949, sealing the construction sites to halt further progress. Developers did not voluntarily remove the illegal structures, despie orders, prompting AMC to take the action.
The demolition was carried out in the presence of Sarkhej police. In all, 17 residential units and 18 commercial units were demolished.
