MADURAI: The much-anticipated TIDEL Park in Madurai is set to be completed in 18 months, or by Jan 2026, said T R B Raja, minister of industries, on Tuesday.

He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the land allocated for the project at Mattuthavani. “The tender process for the project is in its final stages, and chief minister M K Stalin will soon lay the foundation stone for the TIDEL Park in Madurai.”

The upcoming park, which will be constructed on 5.34 lakh sqft of land in a G+12 structure, is expected to generate around 5,000 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect employment opportunities. “The era of seeking IT jobs in Chennai will change once this park opens for people from the southern part of Tamil Nadu,” the minister added.

On Oct 24, Madurai corporation passed a resolution to lease 9.6 acres of land for the TIDEL Park, a key step in moving the project forward.

The minister said that TIDEL Park and Neo TIDEL Park in Karaikudi and Tuticorin are part of a broader plan to promote IT and industrial development in southern Tamil Nadu.

Raja also discussed the proposed Sipcot (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu) in Madurai. He stated that the govt has recently secured 250 acres for the project, with the potential for further expansion to attract larger companies.
