BENGALURU: After warning several times that it will auction properties with huge tax arrears, BBMP said a property in east zone will go under the gavel on Feb 5 and two in Dasarahalli zone and one in Bommanahalli will be auctioned on Feb 6.

The two Dasarahalli properties had tax arrears of Rs 1.8 cr and Rs 30 lakh, respectively, while tax dues from Bommanahalli property was Rs 31 lakh and in east zone Rs 11 lakh.

According to BBMP, the auction is being conducted under Section 156, subsection 5 of BBMP Act 2020, as property owners failed to clear dues despite showcause notices.

Munish Moudgil, special commissioner (finance), BBMP, said, “We issued 8-10 auction sale notices; we will be issuing more than 500 in the coming weeks. From the time of issuing auction notice, there will be a gap of 10-15 days for publicity and other arrangements, and then the property will be auctioned. Even those with small tax arrears are not paying up… If they clear the arrears anytime before the auction date, it will be cancelled.”
