BENGALURU: Several residents of Parkwest Apartments in Binnypet, west Bengaluru, staged a protest on Friday, demanding proper footpaths and roads inside the complex.

The residential complex comprises approximately 1,500 flats with a current occupancy of around 5,000 residents.

The protest, which began at 10am and concluded at 11.30am, saw more than 250 residents walking around the complex holding placards.

Venkatesh Gilda, former president of apartment’s residents association, said, “Now, a new ramp is being constructed on the already shrunken footpath. The footpath width is reduced from 15 to 8 metres, violating BBMP guidelines. Within that 8 metres, they have come up with guest parking, further reducing the width. The footpath is used by residents across all age groups. Besides that, there is a big drainage, sharp pine curves, resulting in high chances of accidents.”
