MUMBAI: Officials of BMC’s K-West ward on Thursday carried out an inspection of some of the construction sites in Juhu after residents complained of severe air pollution in their locality. BMC also cleaned and brushed some of the roads and footpaths. Residents said the BMC team reportedly claimed to have found no evidence of debris loading or unloading at the construction sites.

Residents of Gulmohar Road in Juhu and JVPD scheme had met the K-West ward officer on Wednesday to complain about the quality of air and that construction projects in the area were not adhering to air pollution mitigation norms.

On Friday, actor Tejaswini Kolhapure, a resident of Gulmohar 12th road, said, “The BMC team is expected to review some of the sites tomorrow (Saturday) too. The team may not have found evidence of loading and unloading of debris taking place, because we have been complaining of air pollution for the last few months and some of the projects have progressed, besides loading and unloading of debris may be taking place at early hours. This can be found out only through regular checks. The cleaning and brushing of roads should be carried out regularly.”

K-West ward officer Prithviraj Chauhan did not respond to phone calls for a comment from TOI.
