Condo Residents Hit Streets, ET RealEstate

GURUGRAM: Residents of Ramprastha Edge in Sector 37D took to the streets on Saturday to protest against poor maintenance services, inadequate security, defunct lifts, and a poorly maintained sewage treatment plants in the society.

Residents complained that only 2 to 3 guards have been deployed to monitor the entire complex. Out of 24 lifts in the society, only 10 to 12 are operational and frequently malfunction. Residents further pointed out that they have been paying the upkeep fee in advance, yet the developer has delayed making payments to the vendors.

Ashutosh Thakur, RWA general secretary, stated, “We have been paying high maintenance charges, yet the services are substandard. The maintenance agency has been negligent and has not ensured essential amenities such as functional lifts, adequate security, and basic hygiene in the society. It’s not just an inconvenience; it’s downright dangerous. The safety of residents and their well-being cannot be compromised.”

“Timely payments to vendors have not been made, leading to poor maintenance services and periodic strikes by housekeeping staff. Despite continuous communication, the developer hasn’t taken any action,” said Vijay Rana, RWA president of Edge.

“Around 10 days ago, a kid got stuck in the L tower lift for 30 minutes. A police complaint was also filed, but there has been no improvement whatsoever. Lifts are the lifeline of high-rise societies, but ours is like a ticking time bomb. There is a lack of adequate security measures, with a fraction of the promised guards being deployed in the society,” said Ankit Sharma, a resident.

Meanwhile, the developer could not be reached for comments.
