BENGALURU: As part of the central government’s Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) project, the revenue department plans to complete drone surveys of residential properties in rural areas in the state by March next year and issue digitised property cards by September.
The project aims to establish clear titles for properties and provide records of rights for owners through ownership cards. The revenue department’s survey settlement and land records (SSLR) department has already begun implementing the project.
SSLR sources say drone surveys are underway in 21 districts. The Union government had released Rs 24.5 crore for the project and the state government allocated Rs 100 crore. “The project is being implemented in 21 districts and we will start drone surveys in the remaining 10 districts soon,” said J Manjunath, commissioner, SSLR. He said these property cards are similar to the government’s urban property ownership records (UPOR) cards in Bengaluru.
SSLR officials say since property records are in a digitised format, it will help reduce disputes. Revenue department data shows drone surveys have been completed in 7,017 villages in 21 districts and orthorectified radar image (ORI) mapping has been completed for 3109 villages.
SSLR has completed digitisation records of properties in 2,758 villages and has prepared draft property cards for 2,582 villages.
