Gujarat assembly allocates Rs 30,325 crore for urban development for 2025-26, ET RealEstate


GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat assembly on Monday passed the budgetary demands of the urban development department of Rs 30,325 crore for 2025-26, which is 40% more than the budget allocated to the department in the 2024-25 budget. The state govt is observing 2025-26 as urban development year.

Speaking in the assembly, minister Rushikesh Patel said that a provision of Rs 450 crore has been made for infrastructural facilities in newly formed municipal corporations. He added that the state govt increased the cost assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by Rs 50,000 per house.

The minister said that approximately 78.33% of the work on the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-2 is complete, with the remaining scheduled for completion in June 2025. He added that 57.20% of the Surat Metro Rail Project is complete, with the remaining expected to be finished by Oct 2025.

The minister mentioned that a provision of Rs 200 crore has been proposed in the 2025-26 budget for the development of cities and towns that have places of religious importance. These include Dwarka, Somnath, Becharaji, Pavagadh, Siddhpur, Kapadvanj, Patan, and Palitana.
