HMDA Introduces 10-Day Approval Deadline for Building Permissions in Hyderabad, ET RealEstate

HYDERABAD: With criticism over delay in clearing building permissions within Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) limits, the authority has set a deadline for its officers to clear files within 10 days for examination and processing of applications.

HMDA metropolitan commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad on Thursday said a special drive was undertaken to reduce pending applications within HMDA beyond 30 days to zero from the last week of Oct. He said weekly reviews and daily monitoring of pending applications were being conducted and it was yielding good results.

Several builders and developers earlier alleged that the HMDA was taking several months to approve building and layout permissions.

HMDA officials said there was a rise in the number of new applications within the authority limits this year, especially over the past three months. From June to Oct, the HMDA received 1,884 applications, while the number was 1,356 for the same period last year, which is 39% more than last year’s applications.

When it comes to the disposal of applications, it increased from 2,038 to 2,332 for the three months from June to Oct, including pending applications, which is also a 14% increase in disposal compared to last year, officials said.

“These encouraging results have continued in the month of Nov as well. Compared to the previous year, the new applications and disposal registered growth,” Ahmad said.
