PRAYAGRAJ: For the first time, house tax bills, released and uploaded by the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation for the financial year 2024-25, has been issued with a QR code. As soon as the house owner will scan QR code from the mobile, the user will get to know all details pertaining bill amount and other details. Each bill issued by PMC carries a unique QR code, which is different for all the users. A 10% rebate on house tax has been given till July 31.

The Municipal Corporation has emphasised on online payment of the tax. For this, the website of the corporation has also been upgraded. Apart from this, QR codes have been issued to building owners along with house tax bills. Chief Tax Assessment Officer, PK Dwivedi said that house tax can be deposited sitting at home by scanning the QR code. 10% discount announced by the corporation can also be availed. To deposit house tax, one can visit the corporation website www.allahabadmc.gov.in.

Apart from this, they can also deposit tax through net banking, credit card, debit card, Google Pay or Paytm. Dwivedi said that building owners can also go to the counter and deposit tax in cash. For this, the counters of all zonal offices will open from Tuesday as before. “We have made a new cloud-based website along with the new server which is faster and capable of handling more traffic to ensure that the users (house owners) do not face any problem of speed and overall working of the website while they pay their bills and taxes”, said Dwivedi.

Along with this, house owners of the Sangam city would now be getting receipts for house, water and sewer tax at their door steps with the help of an e-posh machine. For this, Municipal Corporation employees will go to the house of every tax payer and handover the receipt very much like the electricity bill. This will not only simplify the process of issuing receipts and depositing taxes, more and more houses will also come under its purview. This system is set to be implemented from this month itself. Apart from this, if there is any kind of discrepancy in tax, the building owner will be able to immediately lodge an objection to it.

“We have procured 69 state-of-the-art e-posh machines which will have all the facilities including editing the mobile numbers of other details pertaining to the house owners at their door step”, said Dwivedi. Moreover, with the new system in place, the corporation will know the exact numbers of how many buildings the house and water tax receipts have reached. The exact date of issue of receipt will also be known.

There are around 2.34 lakh buildings (except those located in the extended areas) within the limits of the corporation, but in the last financial year only 1.68 lakh house owners deposited house tax.
