INDORE: The Indore district administration launched a crackdown on illegal and unauthorised colonies by identifying around 100 cases and initiating legal actions against four colonisers.

“Following a directive from collector Asheesh Singh, the administration’s revenue department diligently investigated complaints regarding illegal and unauthorised colonies. After a thorough examination of more than 100 cases, it was found that these colonies were developed without the necessary permissions,” ADM Gaurav Banal said.

He added that to prevent future occurrences of such illegal activities, the administration decided to mark these plots as “illegal” in their revenue records.

“This will serve as a red flag for any future applications related to these plots, ensuring transparency and accountability,” he said.

The senior administrative official said that fair chances are being given to the colonisers to present all the permissions along with legal documents of the land on which they developed the colonies.

“All these around 100 cases of illegal and unauthorised colonies were registered around two months ago, and so far, we found at least four colonies being developed illegally,” he said. He added that, therefore, the administration initiated legal actions, including lodging FIR, against the four colonisers.

“The district administration’s stern action against illegal colonisers is expected to deter future violations and help maintain the city’s urban planning standards,” the ADM said.
