LUCKNOW: As many as 1,040 urban poor families received their keys to brand new homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban. Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the LightHouse Project from Azamgarh, bringing immense joy to the beneficiaries.

These houses, constructed using a cutting-edge PVC stay-in-place formwork technology, boast disaster-resistant and eco-friendly features, setting a new standard for affordable housing projects in India.

“We are proud to use this innovative technology in the LightHouse Project,” said Anil Kumar, director of State Urban Development Agency, highlighting its significance for the national construction sector.

Situated on a two-hectare plot in Sector-5 of Awadh Vihar Yojana, Lucknow, the LightHouse Project’s foundation stone was laid by PM Modi himself on January 1, 2021. The total project cost is Rs 130.90 crore, with each house, including infrastructure, estimated at Rs 12.59 lakh. The government has significantly subsidised the cost, providing a grant of Rs 7.83 lakh per house, with the remaining amount borne by the beneficiaries.
