PUNE: Maharashtra housing minister Atul Save has told TOI that his department would assess the ‘Gujarat model’ of effective recovery mechanism under the Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA) for possible adoption in view of measly 18% execution of total recovery orders in the state so far.

The Union ministry of housing and urban affairs had earlier directed states to follow the ‘Gujarat model’ amid poor recovery order execution. “My department will study the Gujarat model as suggested by the Centre. We will evaluate how the mechanism can be implemented in Maharashtra,” Save said.

The Gujarat real estate regulatory authority has appointed two officers vested with all the powers for the execution of recovery warrants.
