LUDHIANA: Taking strict action against illegal constructions, Ludhiana municipal corporation (MC) on Friday razed an unauthorised colony in Kailash Nagar. Civic body officials said action was initiated against the coloniser earlier as well, but despite repeated warnings, construction works were going on at the site.
A few structures were also being raised in the colony, which have been demolished by the civic body team. As per officials, legal proceedings were also being initiated against the coloniser.
Meanwhile, the civic body urged the buyers to verify from the department whether a colony is legal (authorised) or not before purchasing any property.
Municipal commissioner Sandeep Rishi also appealed to the residents to start construction works only after getting the building plans approved from the MC.
He said the building branch officials have been directed to keep a strict vigil on illegal construction activities and take action against the violators.
