BENGALURU: Finally, BMRCL has received permission to start commercial operations on the extended Green Line from Nagasandra to Madavara. The ‘symbolic’ inauguration is likely to happen Wednesday, with full-fledged commercial operations starting Thursday.

Chief PRO of BMRCL, BL Yeshwanth Chavan, told TOI that instructions came from higher-ups to start operations on the 3.1-km stretch. “We are working on fixing train schedules and deploying staff at the three new stations. We will share details on operating trains till Madavara on Wednesday,” he said.

The inordinate delay in opening the line had irked passengers. On Monday, many of them had a tough time boarding trains from Nagasandra station as queues spilled on to the road. Many blamed the delay in opening the line for the chaos.

The public has been waiting for seven years for completion of the smallest Metro stretch built under Phase II of the project. The line has three stations at Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara near BIEC.
