PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has demanded 15 govt land parcels from the state to expedite several pending projects.

The civic administration said if the state govt allocates the land parcels then plans like the 24×7 water supply, road widening at Mundhwa and development of a playground in Shivajinagar would progress. “Many projects are stuck because of non-availability of land,” said a senior civic official.

The projects in-waiting include construction of water tanks in Bavdhan and Mhalunge, road works in Kothrud and Ambegaon, road widening in Bhamburde and two locations in Mundhwa, developing a sports ground in Shivajinagar, riverbank beautification in Sangamwadi and land for a railway overbridge in Ghorpadi, said PMC officials.

Govt land falls under the jurisdiction of the district collector and PMC needs to submit a proposal of the development work to the office.

The district administration then seeks feedback from various departments — like the forest department — and other local self-government bodies. The feedback is verified, following which the land being demanded is measured and its market value assessed. The civic administration seeking the land from the state needs to pay the amount as per the govt rate.

Civic officials said PMC would need around Rs25 crore for 15 govt land parcels. Procurement of the land has been approved in the standing committee and general body meeting.
