GURUGRAM: The Haryana Sehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) sealed seven shops at the DLF-1 rapid rail station on Thursday due to non-payment of rent.

A total of 1,956 sq ft, covering seven shops, is registered under owner, Sunil Miglani, said sub-divisional engineer Naresh Kumar Rana.

Rana, who was the duty magistrate during the operation on Thursday, added that most shops were already locked when junior engineers Lalit Hans and Shamsher Mehla, along with a team from HSVP, arrived at the location around 1 pm on Thursday.

HSVP’s chief administrator TL Satyaprakash issued orders to estate officer I of HSVP Vikas Dhanda to seal the shops for not paying the rent.

“These shops were leased out, but the rent was not being paid. The matter had reached the Punjab and Haryana high court. After the court ruled in favour of HSVP, the sealing drive was carried out,” said Dhanda.

Another 11 shops at four rapid rail stations will also be sealed soon for not paying rent.

Dhanda said the 11 shops include five at the Sector 42-43 rapid rail station, one shop at the Sector 53-54 rapid rail station, one at the Sector 54 Chowk rapid rail station, and four shops at the Sector 55-56 rapid rail station.

“These 11 shops will be sealed due to non-payment of rent, and their lease agreements have also expired,” added Dhanda.

The HSVP is under pressure to recover its outstanding dues from leaseholders, which include petrol pumps, liquor vends, institutions, and commercial buildings and spaces.
