BHUBANESWAR: The housing and urban development department has extended the deadline for ‘100 Days Challenge’ for urban local bodies (ULB)s to complete houses under PM Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) till March 31. The earlier deadline was March 4.

The department had in November 24, 2023 launched the challenge and decided to reward the best performing ULBs for grounding housing projects under PMAY-U. The objective was to foster a competitive spirit among ULBs for completing the houses sanctioned under the central scheme in a time-bound manner before its closure in December this year.

Director (housing) Debasis Singh wrote to all municipal commissioners and executive officers informing about the revised period of the challenge.

“There are multiple central and state programmes running concurrently during the challenge period that has resulted in overlapping of the schedule. Considering the constraints, the period of the ongoing 100 Days Challenge is being extended up to the end of this financial year,” he stated.

For the challenge, 115 ULBs in the state have been divided into three categories. ULBs with above 750 housing units in progress are in category A, those between 250 and 750 units in category B and those with less than 250 units are in category C.
