Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials are struggling to finish development projects within the designated time frames.

For several years, projects such as flyovers, roads, and lake development have been delayed, resulting in inconvenience to the city’s residents.

The Rs 104 crore flyover at Pallav Junction in Naranpura, the Vadaj crematorium development project, the Vastrapur lake development project, the Sola Science City road development project, and the Chandlodia multi-level parking project are among those that have missed their deadlines, causing difficulties for the public.

The multi-level parking in Chandlodia is particularly a noteworthy case. On Sep 7, 2018, the AMC approved resolution 326 to build multi-level parking on a 5,000 sq m plot near Silver Star crossroads in Chandlodia ward under TP Scheme 45.

The standing committee gave its approval for the project on Oct 7, 2019. However, work could not begin as the plot was not in the civic body’s possession. Subsequently, the plan was revised to incorporate a commercial complex alongside the multi-level parking.

The AMC took possession of the plot on Feb 20, 2020, and the contractor was issued a work order. However, the Covid-19 pandemic delayed the project. The deadline for the multi-level parking cum commercial complex was pushed to Jun 23, 2023, but the project still remains unfinished. Despite the pressing need for parking space in Chandlodia, the work on the multi-level parking was still ongoing.
