With eye on sustainability, Goa government embarks on 3D-based urban planning, ET RealEstate

PANAJI: Aiming to create a model of sustainable development for the state, the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) is embarking on 3D-based urban planning by leveraging simulation and analytic studies.

The agency has invited an expression of interest from interested firms for setting up procurement, implementation, and support of a 3D application for urban planning.

“The state is facing various challenges such as traffic congestion, infrastructure gaps, environment concerns and resource mismanagement. We have to overcome these challenges and pave the way for a smarter and sustainable future. We want to leverage the 3DCity Platform for various urban planning scenario analyses and simulation studies before turning such a plan into reality,” a GSUDA official said.

“We are looking for technology that seamlessly integrates with the urban landscape. Our aim is to ensure that we become a model of sustainable development, efficient resource management, and innovation,” he added.

The official said that the 3DCity Platform will handle multiple planning scenarios such as green energy potential, easing traffic congestion by bridges/flyovers, green coverage planning, new township, new infrastructure, vantage points for advertisement boards, security coverage with CCTV, encroachment assessment etc.

He further said that the platform will be used for the representation of navigation, assessment of encroachment of government property, estimation of solar power potential, and infrastructure asset management. The official said through the 3DCity Platform, the aim is also to carry out an assessment of air quality, flood levels, sound pollution and security coverage based on CCTV.
