INDORE: Indore district administration on Thursday demolished three houses to make way for the MOG Lines Re-densification Project. The affected families were allotted flats under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme at its multistoried apartments – ‘Girnar Parishar’ situated in Bada Bangarda.
“The demolition was carried out as part of the ambitious project to redevelop the MOG Lines area, which aims to improve infrastructure, provide better living conditions, and revitalise the neighbourhood.
The three houses that were demolished were deemed to be in a dilapidated condition and posed a safety hazard,” SDM Nidhi Verma said, adding that the district administration had previously engaged with the affected families to discuss the redevelopment plans and provide them with alternative housing options.
However, the affected families registered their protest during eviction from the old houses they had been residing in for years. Senior administrative and IMC officials, in the presence of a police force, somehow managed to persuade them to vacate the place before demolishing the structures.
“The families have been allotted flats under the PMAY scheme while payment for the same has been made by Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL),” she said.
ISCDL has made a plan to generate significant income by selling large plots at MOG Lines, as it will help in completing some ongoing and proposed projects, along with helping it become self-reliant in the near future.
