Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) plans to propose a budget of around Rs 8,000 crore for the next financial year, focusing on initiating the construction of a new building for the civic body.

‘Today, a discussion was held in the IMC Mayor-in-Council’s meeting over the budget of 2025-26. Around Rs 8,000 crore of budget is likely to be proposed, including the construction of a new building and workshop for the civic body, along with purchasing new machinery,’ mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said on Tuesday.

He added that Bilawali Pond will undergo restoration on PPP Mode, while sports and many such activities will be started there. ‘IMC will also be able to have its own portal for revenue collection,’ he said, adding that the budget will help IMC become financially self-dependent. ‘New fish parlours will be developed, and separate pipelines will be laid to supply treated water in gardens,’ he said.

The mayor said that no new tax will be introduced in the next financial year’s budget. He, however, did not clarify whether there would be any change in the slabs of property tax. A decision was made regarding a GIS survey for property tax assessment, he said. ‘On the basis of revenue sharing, an agency will be roped in to recover property and water tax from the consumers,’ the mayor said.

IMC will streamline advertisements of its different wings, including the civic body, AICTSL, and ISCDL, on one platform, while additional revenue will also be generated through the free-hold of properties. ‘IMC has already started generating entertainment tax from commercial events that are being held in the city,’ he said, adding that IMC continues to receive Rs 37-38 crore from the state govt as octroi duty every month.

Bhargava said that a tender will soon be issued to assign the removal of the BRTS Corridor to the highest bid.
