INDORE: Indore Municipal Corporation‘s removal team on Wednesday morning carried out a demolition drive to remove two illegal buildings in Zone 13.
Following the directives of IMC commissioner Shivam Verma, the corporation’s removal department demolished an illegal construction of 3,000 square feet in the minimum open space (MOS) situated at 68 Vishnupuri.
Subsequently, the team also razed an illegally constructed 1,500 square feet hostel situated at 37 Nanak Palace Colony under Zone 13.
IMC deputy commissioner Lata Agrawal, who led the demolition drive, said that notices were served to the owners of both the buildings, asking them to remove the illegal portions on their own. “On the building owners not obeying the orders, today’s action to remove the illegal portions was taken,” she said.
In a separate operation aimed at improving traffic flow and management, a joint team comprising district administration, police, and the municipal corporation, led by SDM Kalyani Pandey, conducted a drive in the Tulsi Nagar area.
During this drive, illegal footpath constructions in front of approximately 50 shops from the nullah to the Gurudwara were removed. Four truckloads of goods were also seized in this action. All shopkeepers were instructed not to carry out any illegal encroachments in front of their shops in the future.
“The demolition of illegal constructions and the removal of encroachments are expected to improve the overall urban landscape and quality of life for the residents of Indore,” senior administrative officials said.
