Well known in France as half of the pop rock musical duo AaRon, Simon Buret turns heads for many reasons. Not only is he known for his popular songs and albums, Buret also had an early career in modeling and acting. Not one to rest on his laurels, the talented performer and artist has recently added painting to his list of creative endeavors. With his first exhibition debuting in Paris in 2020, Buret has continued nonstop with his painterly output ever since.
It’s no surprise that the artist’s light-filled, two-level home in Paris is a place where his creative energy is nourished. It’s also a home where Buret treats every inch as a place to paint, and his works in progress are all over the apartment—hanging on the walls, on the floor, in the studio area. But like his artwork, the home has been a project too.
“I found this place about 12 years ago,” explains Buret. “I fell in love right away with the view.” Upon entering Buret’s top-floor apartment in the 10th arrondissement, one is confronted with something unexpected and delightful. It calls to mind a SoHo loft meeting a French country house—and doesn’t necessarily feel like it’s in Paris. But then, there are the views. When Buret first found the apartment, it wasn’t split between two levels, but the owner told Buret he could buy the space under the roof, too, and combine them. With about 800 square feet for the main floor, less than 400 square feet of extra upstairs space, plus a little terrace, the apartment inspired a vision of a future home.
