JAIPUR: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) and JMC Greater on Thursday jointly removed 150 temporary encroachments between Shyam Nagar and Ajmer Road, Mansarovar and Gopalpura bypass, and the Riddhi Siddhi and Triveni intersections. JDA also demolished five illegal colonies on 12 bighas of agricultural land.

Officials said around 150 places on both sides of the footpath and road were illegally occupied by squatters who put up carts, tarpaulins, hoardings, signboards, iron angles, platforms, tin shaded tables and chairs among others.

“Due to this, common people were facing a lot of traffic problems. By organizing a collective campaign with JMC Greater, the encroachments were removed by the enforcement squad to make the boundaries of the roads encroachment free,” said Mahendra Sharma, chief controller for enforcement with JDA.

A special campaign will be run by the joint team to act against encroachments in main roads

.In January, JDA had said that they will work with JMC and take action on illegal constructions and encroachments in the city. The actions taken by the joint team formed against permanent and temporary illegal constructions and encroachments in the city will be reviewed every 15 days.
