Jennifer Lopez Sells Manhattan Penthouse for $23 Million After 7 Years on the Market

Jennifer Lopez may forever be known as “Jenny from the Block,” but this time, the block in question is Madison Square Park as opposed to her former Bronx digs. Amidst ongoing rumors that the iconic singer and her husband of two years, Ben Affleck, have split up and are headed for divorce, Lopez has finally offloaded her Manhattan penthouse after seven years on the market, the New York Post reports. Records indicate that the property changed hands last Wednesday—the very same day that Affleck bought a new house in Los Angeles’s Pacific Palisades.

It was previously reported that the Atlas star found a buyer for her Neo-Georgian-style dwelling in April. She was asking $24.9 million at the time, but the deed transfer reveals that the 6,540-square-foot unit ended up going for a slightly discounted $23 million.

Spanning the top two floors of a four-story building known as the Whitman, the dwelling hosts four bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths. It offers an unusual amount of outdoor space for an NYC residence, with a whopping 3,000 square feet of open-air oasis spread out over four terraces. The estate comes complete with a croquet pitch, a landscaped roof deck, and a putting green.

The home has all the security features one might expect of a superstar’s abode, including a private keyed elevator leading into the great room, where a skylight and a wall of Palladian-style windows illuminate the space with sunshine.

As chef Joshua Weissman welcomes AD into his Austin home in the latest episode of Open Door, he jokes that he doesn’t actually live in a kitchen.

The primary suite hosts a dressing room with large closets and two private terraces, as well as two spa-like baths. An open chef’s kitchen boasts a breakfast bar, double wine refrigerators, and a dining area and lounge. French doors open out to a terrace overlooking the park.

Lopez purchased the property for $20.1 million back in 2014, Page Six reported. The property was first listed by the Maid in Manhattan star in 2017 at $26.95 million, and was put on and off the market several times. Chelsea Clinton and her husband, Marc Mezvinsky, were residents of the four-unit building when J.Lo moved in (imagine the common room parties!), but listed their place for $6 million in 2016.

Meanwhile, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer and Affleck are still looking for a buyer for their marital dwelling, a $68 million Beverly Hills estate that they picked up in May 2023 after a lengthy house hunt.
