KALABURAGI: The Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority (Kuda) chairman Mazar Alam Khan announced that the state govt has approved their proposal to extend the height restriction for residential buildings in Kalaburagi city from 11.5 metres to 15.0 metres.

Given Kalaburagi’s rapid development and following CREDAI Kalaburagi’s request, the city is witnessing the construction of multi-storey buildings. Mazar Alam Khan, as Kuda chairman, actively pursued amendments to zoning regulations under Section 13-E of the Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, 1961, proposing the height increase from 11.5 to 15 metres.

In conversation with TOI, Khan stated that while the proposal was sent to the state govt on March 12, 2024, after finalisation in the general body meeting of Kuda, the govt issued its approval on Feb 18. This development marks a significant step towards elevating Kalaburagi from tier-3 to tier-2 status.

The state govt’s approval on Feb 18 for increasing building height limits addresses a long-standing request from city residents. The enhanced building height limit offers a solution to land scarcity issues arising from Kalaburagi’s growing population density.

The revised height allowance is expected to boost the city’s economic growth. Khan noted that multi-storey structures optimise limited space usage, while accommodating more residents and businesses. He expressed gratitude for district minister Priyank Kharge’s support in achieving this milestone.

Khan additionally revealed plans for establishing a new township across 500 acres surrounding Kalaburagi city. This initiative aims to reduce population concentration in the main city, with implementation expected shortly.

Kalaburagi, a fast-developing urban centre in Kalyana Karnataka, has witnessed significant progress in recent years. The establishment of Kalaburagi Airport has also bolstered the area’s accessibility and contributed to its financial advancement.
