KALYAN: Regarding the issue of 65 illegal buildings in Dombivli, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has now suspended a former assistant commissioner of ‘A’ Wards, Sandeep Rokade. He is accused of failing to prevent illegal constructions in the Manda-Titwala area, which falls under the ‘A’ Ward limits.
The proposal to suspend Rokade was under consideration by the administration for 15 days. The suspension action was taken after KDMC chief Indurani Jakhar visited Titwala last month to inspect the ring road project.
At that time, it is said that after seeing the illegal chawls in the Manda-Titwala area, the commissioner warned Rokade to take action against the illegal constructions. KDMC sources said that even after the KDMC chief’s order, Rokade did not take any action on the ground except for issuing notices.
Consequently, Jakhar transferred Rokade from his post and appointed Pramod Patil, who took action against at least 600 illegal structures within 15 days.
Sources said additional municipal commissioner Harshal Gaikwad issued a suspension order for Rokade on Monday. In the suspension order, Gaikwad said Rokade was responsible for not taking action against illegal construction during his posting in A Ward despite orders from seniors.
Sources said that after the high court order, the KDMC is planning to demolish 65 illegal buildings which came up from 2019 to 2022 by preparing forged documents and RERA certificates. After the high court order, Jakhar has given instructions to all 10 ward officers to take strict action against illegal constructions in their wards. The action against Rokade reflects this directive.
On Tuesday, the KDMC filed an FIR against four persons under the MRTP Act for carrying out illegal constructions in Vasar village, which falls under ‘I’ Ward of KDMC.
