Kanpur civic body takes action against shopkeepers for over Rs 10.17 lakh rent dues, ET RealEstate

KANPUR: Kanpur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday morning sealed nine establishments at Naveen market owing to non-payment of rent, subsequently unsealing them in the evening after shopkeepers cleared outstanding dues amounting to Rs 10.17 lakh.

According to zonal officer of Vidya Sagar Zone-1, multiple notices were issued to defaulting shopkeepers, who failed to settle their rent and arrears. The KMC implemented stringent measures by sealing nine defaulting shops in the market.

Shopkeepers were informed that premises would be unsealed only upon complete payment of outstanding dues. The defaulters deposited Rs 10.17 lakh by afternoon, following which the seals were removed .
