KANPUR: Soon as many as 1152 beneficiaries will be the owners of their flats as Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) allotted them their houses through lottery draw held at Shatabdi Nagar Stadium here on Wednesday.
KDA has constructed around 1152 houses under Prime Minister Awas Scheme at Shatabdi Nagar. As many as 4663 people had applied for these houses.
The applicants’ eligibility was examined by the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA.) and after formalities KDA conducted the allocation process through lottery. The allotment function was inaugurated by Devendra Singh Bhole, MP, Neelima Katiyar, MLA. First, the ground floor flats were allotted through lottery on the basis of preference among the disabled and senior citizens.
According to the government order, the lottery was conducted among the beneficiaries of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Caste, Other Backward Class and General Category respectively category-wise reservation as per the rules, said SB Rai, public relations officer of KDA..
Devendra Singh Bhole, MP, in his address stated that it was the responsibility of the government institutions to implement the work being done by the government in the interest of the society in which the KDA was discharging its responsibility by providing houses to common people.
“Houses are being built and given to the people by KDA at very low cost”, said Neelima Katiyar, MLA.
