THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue minister K Rajan has said all long-pending title deed cases will be resolved within the tenure of the current govt. He was speaking at a review meeting with district collectors, sub-collectors and deputy collectors regarding title deeds, land conversion, and digital surveys.

“Approximately 40,000 title deed cases are yet to be resolved in the state. Many cases remain unsettled due to legal ignorance or lack of interest in proceedings in the past. The current status of these cases needs to be reviewed,” minister said. He instructed district collectors to convene meetings with deputy collectors and tahsildars for this purpose.

The minister also directed that checks be conducted to identify eligible individuals who were excluded from title deed applications. The transfer of authority for native and protected lands for allocation has been assured by local self-govt department.

Further actions will follow. The distribution of title deeds to those listed in the reviewed applications will be included in govt’s hundred-day programme, with state-level inauguration scheduled for September 12 in Kalamassery.

The minister emphasised the need to ensure that agents do not interfere in land conversion processes. A review meeting of deputy collectors responsible for land conversion should be held bi-weekly.

Survey Director Seeram Sambasiva Rao provided an online update on the progress of the digital re-survey process at the meeting. Subsequent review meetings with nodal officers will be held in the coming months. The minister instructed officials to ensure that landowners in villages where the digital re-survey is complete have seen the draft report.

Principal secretary of the revenue-disaster management department Tinku Biswal and joint commissioner of land revenue A Geetha also attended the meeting.
