KOCHI: Kochi corporation authorities informed that construction of flats under RAY (Rajiv Awas Yojana) for rehabilitation of residents from Kalvathy, Koncheri and Thuruthi Colony is complete. The project will benefit 394 families who are landless and homeless.
Two flat complexes have been built in Thuruthy. The first complex was constructed by municipal corporation as the local body’s project, while the second was built by Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) on behalf of the corporation.
Cost of the first tower, built by the corporation with an area of 10,796.42 sqm, is Rs 41.74 crore. It has 199 units, each unit with a built-up area of 300 sq ft, spread over 11 floors. Each unit includes a dining and living area, one bedroom, a kitchen, a balcony and two toilets. There are 81 parking slots, a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 105 kilolitres per day (kld), three elevators and three staircases.
Common areas of 150 sqm on the first floor and 800 sqm on the 11th floor are available. Below this flat complex, there is a daycare centre and 14 shop spaces. Both complexes have lift facilities.
CSML completed construction of the second tower at a cost of Rs 44.01 crore. This tower consists of 13 floors with 195 residential units, with 15 units on each floor. Ground floor includes 18 shop spaces and parking facilities.
The tower, with three elevators and staircases, spans 10,221 sqm, with each residential unit measuring 350 sq ft. Solar panels are installed in the common area on the rooftop. There is parking available for 68 cars and 17 two-wheelers.
Although construction of both complexes is complete, the inauguration is planned for March after the completion of the sewage treatment plants.
