BENGALURU: The state govt on Monday issued a preliminary notification for the acquisition of identified land to implement the first stage of Metro’s Phase III project.

The notification was issued for acquiring 26,811 sqm of land to build an elevated line and Metro stations between JP Nagar 4th Phase and Mysuru Road station. The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) will acquire the identified land for Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited, the agency implementing the Namma Metro project.

A total of 197 private properties will make way for the project, which includes vacant sites, residential buildings and temporary structures among others.

Sources said in addition to the identified land, the project requires 10,892 square metres of land owned by the govt, such as BBMP, BDA, BMTC, and others.

In Aug, the central govt approved the detailed project report (DPR) of Namma Metro Phase III, which envisages two elevated corridors, one from JP Nagar 4th Phase to Kempapura for a length of 32.2km and another for 12.5km from Kadabagere to Hosahalli. The JP Nagar 4th phase-Mysuru Road stretch is part of the corridor that culminates at Kempapura.

BMRCL is currently carrying out a geotechnical survey on Outer Ring Road, a prerequisite for taking up civil construction works.

A senior official of the BMRCL said: “The viaduct of the Metro will be on the median of the ORR, and the majority of the land is required for building metro stations. If any objections are received, the same will be reviewed by the authority concerned. Meanwhile, land and structural evaluations will happen. The compensation package will be decided at a later stage.”
