MYSURU: Revenue minister Krishna Byregowda on Wednesday said the department has undertaken digitisation of land records at all 236 taluks in the state.
It’s aimed at curbing fraudulent property transactions, he stated, adding that it avoids forgery through the manipulation of land records.
The digitisation of land records will solve the problems pertaining to missing files, he pointed out.
Speaking to reporters, he said the drive has started from this month on a pilot basis in 31 taluks across 31 districts.
“Directions have been given to all deputy commissioners to complete the process as early as possible. Once this pilot drive completes, it will be extended to remaining taluks across the state,” he said.
The minister set the deadline of Dec-end to all deputy commissioners to complete the drive in all 236 taluks.
The drive also aims at paperless offices and streamlining administration at taluk offices. Digitisation involves re-surveying land assets through the use of drones, scanning and digitising documents, and linking Aadhaar numbers with land records databases.
The project aims to make land records easily accessible online, reducing the burden on revenue offices and ensuring transparency in the functioning of the revenue department, he said.
Clear pending cases: Krishna Byregowda
Referring to the delay in pending cases in the department, the minister said that he has given directions to all tahsildars, assistant commissioners to clear pending cases in their court on priority. Out of 60,000 pending cases related to the revenue department, 33,000 of them were cleared in the last four months after he took up the mantle.
Meanwhile, the minister accused the Union government of delay in releasing Rs 18,000 crore drought relief compensation sought by the state government. Officials from the Union government have submitted the report after inspecting the drought-hit taluks in Oct.
The Centre, which promised to release the compensation, has postponed the meeting twice on Dec 23 and Jan16, he charged.
But, he noted that the Siddaramaiah government has started to disburse the first installment of drought relief of Rs 2,000 per hectare of crop loss to the bank accounts of farmers. The state government has released Rs 550 crore drought relief amount for the farmers, he said.
