Land survey to be conducted on pilot basis, Real Estate News, ET RealEstate

MANGALURU: Deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP said a survey will be conducted on a pilot basis in Kollamogru and Harihara-Pallathadka gram panchayats in the district to solve issues related to land belonging to revenue and forest departments.

At a grama vastavya programme organised by Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association (DKDWJA), district administration, zilla panchayat, and various departments at the Govt School in Kollmogaru, Sullia, on Saturday, the DC said the survey will be completed within four months.

“In addition to solving the issue pertaining to land, other issues in the area also will be solved,” he said.

As many as 228 applications were submitted to various departments during the gram vastavya programme. Villagers of Kalmakaru brought to the notice of officials that nine families, who lost their properties in natural calamities, have not been provided alternative sites. The DC directed the tahsildar and officials to find solutions. When villagers raised the issue of buses not operating during holidays, the DC directed officials to look into the issue. The DC said the demand of villagers for simplification of the process related to depositing weapons and transfer of gun licenses will be considered.On shortage of village accountants, the DC said that out of 98 sanctioned posts, 50 are vacant. “The process of appointment is on to fill all the posts,” he added.

The deputy commissioner directed officials of the agriculture and horticulture departments to conduct a study on the quality of soil to find an alternative and viable crop that can be grown by arecanut growers, who are incurring loss due to leaf spot and yellow leaf diseases. Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya suggested development of eco-tourism in villages on a PPP model.

Residents also demanded a police station in Guthigaru for the convenience of people in Kollamogru and Harihara villages.

At the valedictory ceremony of the grama vastavya programme held on Sunday, assembly speaker UT Khader said he will direct govt to solve problems of people on priority.
