NEW DELHI: The Lodha brothers — elder brother, Abhishek Lodha and younger brother, Abhinandan Lodha — and the companies led by them, have amicably resolved all outstanding disputes under the guidance of their parents.
Macrotech Developers (MDL), is the owner of, and has the exclusive right to use, the brand names ‘Lodha’ and ‘Lodha Group’ and Abhinandan Lodha, is the owner of, and has the exclusive right to use the brand name ‘House of Abhinandan Lodha’ (HoABL).
Both entities will communicate that they have no connection with each other and have no rights or claims in each other businesses.
Justice R.V. Raveendran (Retd.) mediated the process.
Macrotech Developers had previously alleged that Abhinandan’s firm fabricated documents to misuse the company’s brand name to further its business interests. The company claimed that HoABL entities used fake board resolutions of Macrotech containing a ‘no objection’ for use of trademarks and filed the same with government authorities.
HoABL in turn had filed a complaint with Mumbai police seeking to register a FIR and probe into the forgery allegations made against the company. In its complaint HOABL said it tried to rename four group companies using the ‘Lodha’ name, with approvals from its group company Lodha Ventures, but the application was initially rejected by the Registrar of Companies (ROC). The company later discovered that someone else had resubmitted the applications using forged documents, following which the ROC approved the name changes.
