LUDHIANA: Taking stern action against illegal buildings, Municipal Corporation (MC) took action against 12 illegal buildings and a colony being constructed in different areas of MC Zone D on Monday.
Of these, eight illegal buildings were demolished including two under construction illegal shops at Jassian road, one commercial building on Jassian road, illegal portions (houseline coverage) of three residential buildings in Lakshmi Nagar, an illegal commercial building near New Krishna Mandir and illegal portion of a building near Khalsa College in Civil Lines.
An illegal under construction colony on Jassian road and an encroachment on road portion in Tagore Nagar were also demolished.
Further, the civic body teams also sealed four illegal buildings including two shops in Basant Vihar, Jawaddi, one commercial building near Khalsa College for Women in Civil lines and one commercial building in residential area near Krishna Mandir.
Building branch officials of MC Zone D said that the drive against illegal constructions was organised on the directions of MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi. The owners have also been restrained from getting involved in the illegal activities otherwise strict legal action will be taken against them. More such drives will be organised in the coming time.
Further the property owners have been appealed to start the construction works only after getting the building plans approved from the civic body, otherwise strict action will be taken against the illegal constructions.
